The City, This Countryside

In these verses Allah The Almighty swore by the city of Mecca which contains the Ka'bah the direction of the Muslims all over the world and a great place that is recognized by the opponent and a friend of his greatness, that the Prophet Muhammad. born and live.
He is the messenger of God who brought Islam to be conveyed to all mankind. Then Allah swears by the father and son, man and not man, that He has created man who is in difficulty, struggling since the beginning of his life until his death and the afterlife was to be a heavy burden and faces difficulty that can not be solved except by Allah SWT.

In this verse, Allah warns people if those who boast themselves as the power is incredible to think that no one can rule over him. or whether the man thought that he was strong. In this verse Allah warns people if they think God does not know for their actions. And emphatically explained that he knew anything stored on their hearts, even there is nothing that is on earth and in heaven His unknown. God explains that He has shown man to two roads, the road is good and evil path. And to him also has given him reason to differentiate between good and bad things, so he can choose to do good, and bad to be abandoned.

Explained that the road which goes up more difficult it is to do good is commendable that freeing slaves from bondage, or provide food in times of famine for an orphan who is related. Thus they have fulfilled two obligations, namely obligations towards orphans and family obligations.

Feed the poor or very poor that there is no way for him to get money, because he was not strong and very weak. They are among those who believe and then they were told to be patient facing difficulties when enforcing the religion of Allah and told each other for Compassionate fellow human beings. Such people were "ashab Yamin" the heavenly host.


Surah Al Balad consists of 20 paragraphs, including class Makkiyyah letters. Named Al Balad, taken from the words contained in the first paragraph of this letter. The meaning here is the city of Mecca.

Principles of contents:
Man was created by God to contend with difficulties; do not be deceived by human power and possessions that a lot. a warning to mankind for several blessings that God has given him and that God has shown the roads which will submit it to happiness and that would take him to the accident.


1.  I do call to witness this City;-

2.  And thou art a freeman of this City;-

3.  And (the mystic ties of) parent and child;-

4.  Verily We have created man into toil and struggle.

5.  Thinketh he, that none hath power over him?

6.  He may say (boastfully); Wealth have I squandered in abundance!

7.  Thinketh he that none beholdeth him?

8.  Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?-

9.  And a tongue, and a pair of lips?-

10.  And shown him the two highways?

11.  But he hath made no haste on the path that is steep.

12.  And what will explain to thee the path that is steep?-

13.  (It is:) freeing the bondman;

14.  Or the giving of food in a day of privation

15.  To the orphan with claims of relationship,

16.  Or to the indigent (down) in the dust.

17.  Then will he be of those who believe, and enjoin patience, (constancy, and self-restraint), and enjoin deeds of kindness and compassion.

18.  Such are the Companions of the Right Hand.

19.  But those who reject Our Signs, they are the (unhappy) Companions of the Left Hand.

20.  On them will be Fire vaulted over (all round).
